Peak 6 at Breckenridge - Opening Christmas

The much anticipated expansion of Breckenridge's PEAK 6 will be opening for it's inaugural 2013-14 season, adding an additional 543 acres, 10 trails, 3 bowls and 2 lifts!

The much anticipated Breckenridge expansion will be opening for it's inaugural season this winter! The official opening date has not been officially released yet but their website indicates the announcement will come early in the 2013-14 season. Breckenridge resort announced on that the official opening of Peak 6 will be at noon on Christmas Day.

Breckenridge received approval from the U.S. Forrest Service and announced it's plans to expand it's terrain just over a year ago, after a 5 year long planning phase. The new Peak 6 expansion will include an additional 543 acres of terrain. Of the new terrain, 400 acres will be services by 2 new lifts and the remaining 143 acres will be hike-in terrain. The expansion increases the resorts size by about 23% and is the first at Breckenridge since Peak 7 opened in 2002.

“Peak 6 will be a tremendous addition to Breckenridge, significantly improving the guest experience by adding both new terrain and lift capacity, ” said Rob Katz, chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts. “In addition, the new terrain provides access to intermediate runs and high alpine bowl skiing that will be enjoyed by a wide variety of our guests.”

Intermediates (Blue) Bowls

One of the highlights of the expansion are the three new bowls. Two of which are Blue/Intermediate rated! Now you don't have to be an expert to experience the exhilaration of skiing or riding in a bowl above tree-line.

New Trail Map Released

The new 2013-14 Breckenridge trail map was released last month via their Facebook fan page. The new trail map features the new Peak 6 terrain so you can start mapping out your runs before it even opens!
