Best ski resorts with Kids

Our best ski resorts for families – as voted for by you

Every year at Crystal we ask our customers what they thought about their holiday, from accommodation and the resort itself to ski school and the food they ate. For the first time, we’re publishing these results here on Ski-buzz. We have absolutely no influence on any of these scores. Results are entirely based on feedback from what you, our customers, tell us.

We made sure we had a good number of responses for any one resort before putting it forward (to ensure the stats are representative) but apart from that it’s your voting that counts. Think of it as our version of X-factor.

We’re starting off with the best ski resorts for families and which resorts, ski school and childcare our Crystal customers rated the highest…

Best Overall Family Resort

We know how important it is to make life simple when you’re a family – you have tired, bolshy, cold kids to contend with, you’re holding four pairs of skis and poles while trying to pick up the trail of dropped hats and gloves – and if they don’t like it then you have a bad holiday. Below are the resorts you voted best overall for families – what’s the one common link that they all have? Convenience.

  • 1st Place –, France A brilliant resort for families, Chamrousse is just an hour and a half from the airport, has an excellent kids ski school (in our top 10, but didn’t quite make this list) and you don’t need to chose where to stay – the only option is the Chamrousse apartments which are modern apartments, with a swimming pool and everything you need is on your doorstep – supermarket, restaurants, a couple of bars, as well as the ski lifts and slopes too. There’s a free lift pass too for Crystal customers.
  • 2nd Place –, France There are a number things that make Les Orres great for families. First off we offer 3 different good value apartments, especially given their great locations – each one you can ski back to, are close to the ski lifts, ski school, restaurants and shops of the village. We offer free kids places which means you’ll have a little extra in the bank to spend on one of the range of activities, like ice skating, snow shoeing or (our favourite) winter luge!
  • 3rd Place –, Slovenia Kranjska Gora has made it into the top 5 in every category for families – the only resort to do this. So you know there’s great ski school and childcare (see below) but what really makes this little resort in Slovenia standout is the quality of accommodation, the small village centre, the incredibly friendly Slovenians and the huge range of other things to do – oh, and it’s exceptional value too.
  • 4th Place –, Finland Ruka isn’t just about being a great ski destination for families, it’s just a great winter destination – take the skiing out of the equation and you still have a resort with so many things to do you get dizzy even thinking about them all, plus the odd spotting of the Northern Lights. But add in the skiing and you have something above and beyond what you find anywhere else, with great ski school (read on) and superb snow conditions, ideal for learning.
